Well, it's pretty nice. I have some friends now, like my mom, and my cat, it licks me. But, overall the city is great. Some people are dirtbags and some people are nice. Us immigrants from Russia have to stick together. My job has gotten irritating and I've been thinking of trying to find another job. I might move out of NY one day, but I like it here. The end...... KeViN Dang and Sean GLAnnY
My first impression of america is all of the people. Everyone is hard at work and drenched in sweat. But one thing that's bad is there is trash and human poop in the street and it smells like donkey dump. But for the most part i love America. It feels great to finally be free.

With the time that i have spent in New York city, i have had a paying job and i have met alot of people that are just like me, immigrants, and they are loving living there. I think that New York is a nice place and that everyone should visit at one point in thier life. I am a little homesick but life here is so much more different than back home in Russia, and i say that the food here is really good and that my roomates that i live with in my tenement are so nice and fun to be around and I want to live here for a long time to see how the neighborhoods change over time. - Thylar Summarell
The journey was tough. I didn’t like to be on the boat. It took three weeks to get from Russia to Ellis Island. Then when we first got there we needed to show our passports. Then we needed a health inspection. It was tough because they were a lot of sick people on the ship and it was not clean. The journey was a little bit fun tough. When we were on the ship we saw a ton of other people. Over all the trip was bad but there were some ups and downs.
I have made some new friends and i am working in a textile mill sewing and weaving. its not horrible but not as great as i thought. my family is working as well and we are getting by. the pay isnt high but its ok. im enjoying the liberty and freedom i get. our house is small and nice. we keep it tidy but it smells because of the streets. so far things our good. Bri and Kathryn
Ehhhhh you know how it is. You win some and you lose some. Im fighting through it long and hard. Ive made new friends and some new enemies. When I was back in Russia it was pretty niccceee. Here the weather is inconsistent and not good. In Russia it was always the same weather and it was great! I loved it so much better there. There was much more crime in Russia but there is still some here. In retrospect, I could get the hang of this country,
I'm working at home doing a bunch of stuff like cooking and cleaning and laundry. I didn't expect America to feel this good. The people I'm staying with were nice enough to offer me the first choice of where I want to accomodate myself. I am loving all the freedom that I never had when I was in Italy. Things are going to be looking up for me.
after a month of living in new york i have a low paying job and i live on a street with poverty and every thing and everyone is poor and dirty. i think it is still better then my other home. plus there are so many new things i can do to get money and the united states is still going so i cant judge since it is a new start. Drew, Nick, Justin
2. my journey on the boat was horrible almost worst than Russia. the boat rocked back and forth and most people got sick and died from diseases. when we got to Ellis island and walked up the stairs doctors already were watching us so we tried not to act sick we went through health inspections and legal inspections jesus s
Our one month of living in the United States was really fun. I met a lot of new friends they helped me through a lot because i was considered "the new girl". I learned a lot of new t hings and was happy to share my cultures with them. I appreciate all the people that helped me through everything. On the days i was homesick i knew i had my friends to rely on. Some people were really mean to me and when I turned around they laughed at me but I learned to ignore them.I am glad to be home with my family.
Im leaving my terrible country because i was treated horrible. My family can also use the extra money. My father lost his job and wanted better life in America. My mom is a United States citizen and she wanted to go back home. Moving to America would really give my family the extra money Markeece Graham Jake phaup
#3 my first impression of New York was it was very dirty and there was so many people. all the tenements had almost 8 families in each building but New York also had lots of job opportunities. overall new york was better than russia... jesus s
lviing in america i could definantly say was diffrent from my home land. but i must say i like it.there were some bad things like bad pay, but its better than no job. even though the apartment was small it was still cozy and somthing to live in. over all i think taking this journey was a good idea. -Alexa Rawa and Katie Murphy
The Journey was terrible because my father caught a disease and past away. We almost crashed in a little island. My mother got sea sick and almost died. It was a long trip and the most boring thing i went through in my life. Jake Phaup Markeece Graham
Life in america has been hard but i've enjoyed it. A Lot of people don't like i came here thought immigration but how else did anyone of them come here? I love all the rights i have in here and i found a job. The job doesn't pay the best but its good enough to get by and start bringing my family over. Its been great here and i don't regret coming the long boat ride was worth it. David .M Will .S Pat
I got a job in a steel mill. It is a hard job because it requires a lot of man power and it is really dangerous, but it is worth it because I am making money to support me and what I need. My tenement is really dirty since there are a lot of different immigrants living in it. I hope I don't get sick from the other people in the tenement with me. I really like how I have a lot of freedom, and how I can be an individual. I hope to continue my job to keep supporting myself.
My first impression of America wasnt so good. It was too crowed and dirty. After time i decided that it was exactly a great country. When i got to my tenement it wasnt what i expected but i was graceful Markeece Graham Jake Phaup
The month in America for me was very un peaceful. It was to busy for me, every where i went it was crowed. I got separated from my family at one point but other than that I loved it. My family was making twice the money and I met my fanily on my mother side. Jake Phaup Markeece Graham
