Immigrant Journal Entry #2- The Journey to America

  1. The ride here was pretty rough, no food, the people were mean and smelly so I had to puke twenty four times. There was one guy who fell off after trying to puke so I learned to puke in a bucket and then throw it outside instead of just puking off the deck. I had like no food man, or friends, so dawg i was like come on, gimme some of dat cheese and brohimes. - Kevin Dang and Sean Glanny

  2. The ride from eurpoe to america was horrible. it was defintly one of the worst times in my life. the ride had so many people so when it came to getting sleep i had to lay on top of people and it was extremly unconfertable. i also get sea sick so i threw up atleast 15 times. plus i wasnt the only person doing that the ships smell was horrendous! finally we just made it to america without starving, people ate all of it and i hardly had any for myself. so in conclusion, THE TRIP WAS AWFUL.

  3. The journey to America from Russia was very long and i managed to keep healthy for the health inspections, because i packed a good amount of food with me on the boat. The ship was something that i had never seen before because i had never left my homeland. It was not very clean because when people got sick or they had to use the bathroom they would just do it all over the deck and nobody wanted to clean it up. When we got to Ellis Island we were cramped with a bunch of people to go up a bunch of steps and then we got inspected and it took a long time to do because there were so many of us trying to get into America. -Thylar Summarell

  4. The journey to New York Harbor was rough, but had some smooth patches. It was a 3 week journey across seas. The was rocky at times, but got smooth. The current was strong pulling us to the right. Lots of people had sea sicknesses and had never been on a boat. At times, I got just as dizzy, and nauseous as them, but I'm glad we arrived safely.

  5. On the way to America the journey was extremely difficult because there was barely any food. Also, the journey was really dangerous because there was a high chance of disease since it was really dirty. Luckily, I was able tyo survive. Ellis Island was really nice, but I think it was just because conditions on the boat werer really bad. I am looking forward to getting settled in the United States, and hopefully getting a job.

  6. The anticipation on the boat is growing everyday we are all very anxious but excited. Ellis islnad was very unique and crowded with alot of immigrants hoping to be allowed to enter into the endless possibilities. the boat was rocky and some got sick but i was fine most of the time. towards the end i was a little antsy but it was worth it. - Bri and Kathryn

  7. The journey to America was pretty dangerous and hard to adjust to. There were a lot of people that got sick. People were throwing up over the side of the boat and I was pretty sure I would get sick myself. I was so happy when we got off the boat because it was my first step in America. I was really glad the long, trechorous journey was over. I can't wait till I'm completely settled.

  8. The journey to America was rough and rocky at some parts but smooth and relaxing on other days. It depended on the day. If the day was windy then the current was strong but that was only 12 days. It was really dirty so a lot of people got sick. I only got sick three times. Overall the journey was fine I just wish it went smoother on those 12 long days.

  9. the journey was really hard. on the boat many people got sick. it was a week long of being sea sick, cold, and miserable. at ellis island we had to get health inspections and legal inspection. over all the journey was really difficult and not very pleasant.

  10. Well it was dark cramp and hard and smell bad and it was fool of people from different country's. The boat ride was long and people were sick and when you arrived at Ellis island they would watch you to make sure you weren't sick.
